Genius Hour 1.5

This week I wanted to make fondue, which is typically a three course meal of melted cheese, broth, and melted chocolate. My family doesn't usually like the broth course, which you boil broth and let the meat cook in there. So instead of boiling chicken in broth, my family will pan fry or grill chicken.

The first course, which is cheese, you can use many different recipes. The recipes usually contain some sort of cheese, alcohol, and garlic or something to give it more flavor. We decided to use, colby jack and pepper jack cheese, a dry white wine, and some cornstarch to make the cheese thicker when you melt it. To add some flavor, I added some garlic and lemon juice. We like to dip bread, tortilla chips, and green apples into our cheese. I used my cutting skills from one of the past weeks to cube the bread, and I also practiced grating with the cheese. With your final results, you want it to turn out stringy so you can dip it easiest. It took a second to get the cheese right, because it was a little too thick, so I kept having to add more wine.

This is how my cubed bread, and cheese fondue turned out.

The next thing I made was something that my family calls Hawaiian chicken. We use this amazing seasoning that we got when we went to Hawaii. So, we season our chicken with that, than we will usually grill it on the grill outside, but since it is cold and our grill isn't working we pan fry it. You put some oil on a pan and toss the chicken in to fry, and it still tastes pretty delicious.

This is the golden brown, pan fried chicken.

The last thing that I made was some delicious chocolate fondue. This one turned out amazing, I put some milk chocolate chips, and some dark chocolate chips, let that melt and add some cream and vanilla. If you want the chocolate smoother, than you can add more cream. You can do this recipe with any kind of chocolate that you like and adjust it to how you want it. The best things to dip in this are bananas, marshmallows, and rice crispy treats.

This week has been something that I made before, and something that is pretty easy and fun to make. Next week I think that I want to try and make some more different types of chicken. Also, I am going to practice another cooking technique called sauteing.
